View Full Version : My new fretless Warwick!
Well everyone... it's here.
My new Warwick arrived today after 7 months wait!!
To refresh your memory, it is custom made...
Warwick Streamer Stage 1
Six String
Afzelia body
Fretless Ebony Fingerboard
Stage 2 Preamp
Gold hardware
The guys at Warwick have done an absolutely amazing job. This bass is by far the best I have seen/played. It's not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be. The afzelia is amazing, and the ebony fingerboard is ace. Thanks to Michael Zaccaria at Dominant Music in Melbourne, Australia, and the team at Warwick in Germany.
It was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!
Ok, now for some pictures:

WOW!
Looks seriously stunning Lex :P - I bet you are happy with that!
Whats the neck like on that though - looks huge! You must have big hands to play that beast...
yeah it seemed daunting at first, but's cool now... it's just getting used to that extra string that is going to take some time!

By the way, how do you switch your LED's on? Have you got a switch or do you just plug in the jack?
Liam :cheesy:
After picking my mouth off of the ground I have to say...beautiful...absolutely beautiful. I didn't know you could have a Stage I with that type of wood. I thought they did the Stage I in maple.
Very very nice I must say...I dont dare to ask what it costed you :P lol, and like other said already, that neck looks FAT! I'd never go to 6 strings I think...wouldnt be able to play on it, or would want to, but thats personaly choice anyways. Like the LEDs on the Fender too

 damn.. that ebony fingerboard is just amazing.. looks like a freeway just waiting for your fingers to slide.. :cheesy: Congrats you now own a pornografic bass!
hey guys!
glad u like the bass... i haven't been able to put it down! it just sounds awesome. the tone is amazing!!!
in response to a couple of the posts...
By the way, how do you switch your LED's on? Have you got a switch or do you just plug in the jack?
the switch is a push/pull knob which also controls volume... if you pull it out the lights go on... they are powered by 2 9V batteries... the dots are also lit up on the side of the fingerboard.
I didn't know you could have a Stage I with that type of wood. I thought they did the Stage I in maple.
yeah, that's normally the case... what i originally wanted was a Stage 2, but they don't do it in a six string... so i had them make a stage 1 in Afzelia, and had a Stage 2 Pre-amp thrown in... so i guess you could call it a Streamer Stage 1-and-a-half
:)

It cost me close to $6000AUD, which works out to around £2357... a little more expensive than a Stage 2 (according to Simon....)
As for the neck — it's pretty wide, but not all too difficult to play... i must have big hands though...

it has a great feel... it looks awesome too because it's almost jet black (the photos don't do it justice)

What's going on...
Hey Lex, just a question. it's har to have a custom made Warwick?... I would love to have one like yours but with some other especifications... (five string, frets and jazz pickups... you know...)
I wondered this because I'm just about to go into a rock band that it's probable that will make a new record... and with that comes money! hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi...

Sounds like a Stage II to me
Apart from them specs, what else would you like it to have that non-customised bass doesn't offer you?
it's not too hard to have a custom made Warwick...
i did it by dealing between the music store and the Warwick distributor in Australia... you basically work out all the options with them
but, like Simon said, it depends what custom options you want!
i only bought a custom bass because i couldn't get a Stage II in a 6-string....
that is a very beautiful piece of craftsmanship!!! money very well spent mate!

he he he... I know Simon... As the way I said it It was like talking about a Streamer Stage II...
:cheesy:
What I wanted to say more especifically, it was, a Streamer Stage II but with the portion of the neck that goes through the body visible... like this one, you know what I mean? I just go crazy when you can see the hole neck going all the way down...
i think the hidden neck-thru construction of the Stage 2 is one of the bigger differences to the Stage 1... and the ying yang markers...
you could maybe order a Stage 1 in Afzelia, with a stage 2 pre-amp, and ying-yang dot markers???
:)

ha ha ha ha ha ha... a little complicated isn't it?....
Think about this: having the best of both worlds... I love the way the SSI looks, but I love Afzelia... so.... let's made them one bass... ha ha ha ha

I assume you mean you prefer the pickups on the 4 string Streamer Stage I, because apart from that nothing changes looks wise...

almost... the Stage 2 has a hidden neck-thru construction (you can't see the layers of wood on the front... only on the back)... I think AJP likes the sandwich-wood look of the Stage 1 :)

ha ha ha ha ha... I thought that first comment wouldn't go this far... What I wanted to said it's (as Lex Said) the thing of the necktrough construction to be visible from the front side... that's all.
But now that you say it, I definitely like more the "Precision / Jazz" configuration on the streamer stage I 4 strings, I think sounds better than the couple of soapbars in the 5 strings version... I'm not saying that it's a huge change, but I think it's just more my sound, woody and bright...
By the other way the killer (and classical) "Jazz / Jazz" configuration on the streamer stage II it's something that's just perfect...
(the dificulties of English as my second idiom... ha)
(sorry about the bold words.. but I realized that I don't express myself correctly all the time...)
