View Full Version : Bass Challenge !!
Hey guys,
I had an idea about something which could be very funny... Simon, tell me if it's possible to do that...
The idea is :
- Simon put a mp3 file in the download section so that every user who wants to participate can download it easily. The file has just drums and guitar (eventually keyboard)
- Every user who download the file has then to add the own bass line (thx to Cubase, Cakewalk or another software...) and save the whole track as a MP3/MP3PRO. If we want we can change or add some music on it...
- Simon should then collect all our MP3's and when he has all of them, put them online so that we can listen to everyone's feeling about the track
Obviously the MP3 should be max 1 Mb so the track shouldn't be too long...
What do u think about it ?? :cheesy:
Peace

Great idea.....I can lay down a beat and keys and send to Simon to start with.....
I've got Groove Agent on Cubase which is great to make some very natural and groovy stuff with drums... It really seems real drummer ! You can choose from all styles from 50's to now... if someone has some keyboard or guitar and tell me which beat (100/120 ?) we want to use and how many minutes I can prepare the drum part... Just let me know.

Sounds like a good laugh to me! 8)
I'm a bit sketchy with sequencing software though, but it's a good way to learn.
I definitely like the idea of us creating a tune as a group of individuals from around the world. Very interesting stuff!

I can play keys so set a beat and I`ll add no problems
No problem,
I'll do a funky riff with drums... let's say 3 minutes at 120... then see which chords you can put on it ! It would be nice to do a first part quiet technical where you can put chords + solo with keyboards and then a soft one to improvise on it with the bass...
We also have to find someone for the guitar rythm...
In the meantime, I will prepare drums riff !

Hey! I don't have a computer!
:x
Hey Delime,
I did the drums track on yesterday but I think it would be better for you if you do it yourself with your keyboard so that you can do an intro and then start with the beat when you want. It's up to you, you can make the tune like you want to... If then the beat is not that good, record the theme and the beat on two different tracks and I will make it with Cubase...
Peace

Ok....I`ll come up with something over the weekend.....where can I send the mp3 to?
You could send it by MSN messenger... but we still need someone to put some guitar chords on it !!
Maybe I know somebody who could do that... if we don't find anyone, so you could send it to me by msn and I will give it to my friend for the guitar ! Then we will put it online for everyone to participate...
Leo
this sounds excellent!! count me in! :cheesy:
Delime,
My friend agrees to add some guitar on your track so u can send it to me by msn as soon as it will be ready :cheesy:
I won't be online on Monday and Tuesday as I will abroad for business but later on next week we can manage everything.
Have a nice WE guys !

You`re right.......you`ll probably get 1min / 1mb
I haven`t had a chance to set a backing yet but will do soon. I`ll make it sound soulful/disco ish
Anyone else is welcome to set something too
Yeah I thought about 1 Mb just for Simon to put all our MP3 available for download... but the best thing would be at least 3 minutes... (which would be about 3Mb). Simon, what is the max size we can afford for you to put them online without any problems ?
Delime, how are u proceeding ? :cheesy:
Cheers

Hmm, well it should be fine. With all of us taking part a few of us have webspace and hosting so it should be fine if we work it all between us
So 2-3mb should be fine.
Ok Simon ! That's perfect... :cheesy:
Delime, as you will finish the tune, send it to me by msn (my address is in my details) and I will add the guitar on it, then we can start !

Hi guys,
I haven`t had a chance to complete the track because of other commitments. I will probably keep the beat straightforward and add keys/clav and other bits and bobs. Please feel free to build a track too....I will get on the case with mine asap.
Cheers
No problem mate, just let us know when you will finish it... :D
Cheers
