As some of u know we got a massive problem on jamirotalk because of copyright laws.

an agency contacted cosmicmouse (admin of jamirotalk) that some experts found out about violation of those copyright laws concerning using of pictures from other websites . they made screenshots and documented everything but gave her a chance to just get rid of ALL copyrighted material in a few hours

( if u want to know details go here.. http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8091&start=0)

so after more research on this subject itīs also clear now that for example " gettyimage" pictures WITH watermark are not allowed to post!

so i am just talking about this as i want to prevent us all from troubles by just reminding us of those copyright laws when posting stuff from other websites ..as for myself i was just not so aware of it anymore and i deleted lots of stuff from my accounts..will also check my posts with pictures here on szc...

if those companies go after u they can charge u up to 1000 euros a pic...so i really learned a lesson last week.

just wanted to let u know :)

all in all i think itīs ridiculous btw....

Ah thats nuts...But you gotta see their point when these photographers are making a living from this...
I don't think there has been many cases of this on this forum tho right?

Man, If I go trough each one of my posts I will get old... ha ha ha ha ha ha

I think everyone over here respects a lot the copyright stuff, but wouldn't be a bad idea to do sticky posts about this subject.

I don't think it applies to this forum anyways as didn't all the pics get lost in the changeover?

Yeh, it's pretty strong. But it happens, and it is the law after all.

If I ever get contacted I'd do the same. Forums are hard to control because they are public. Basically it's down to me and the other Mods to check every single post made, and in most cases it wouldn't cross our minds to consider whether there was any copyright infringement.

Problem is that almost everybody use their own photobucket tags... that won't change.

yeah in the end the owner of a website will carry the responsibility...

AJP .. in the photobucket rules it says i is not allowed to upload any copyrighted material...so u could get in trouble there..

reality is that violation of copyright laws are happening every day million times on differen forums...
some picture companies have special programs and are scanning internet to find their pics somewhere. and if u have bad luck they may find you and charge you..about 100 euros per picture...

for example napkins post in the other thread..

if u wanted to be 100% correct u would have to check if u got the permission of clipov.net to post this picture in a public forum.

It’s a valid point Sandriche,

A very difficult balance to strike.

On the one hand you have Greedy corporations who want more money and pompous artists who want more fame and cultural influence & power.

On the other hand you have fans who are asked to pay the same amount of money for a few songs that would feed a family of four for a month in poor parts of the world.

Its just so hard to know what side to come down on.

Apparently when you sign to a major now you have to sit on a copier and they actually Zerox your butt. They actually own your arse and the copyrights to it. You are not allowed to look at an image of your own butt without permission from the chairman of the company. That’s why he is called the `Chair-Man` because it is his Arse that has the power in that `chair`.

If you are a powerful enough artist you can get your own Zerox throne. An electronic fully automated chair. Comfortable to sit in yet that takes photos of your beautiful arse all day and searches for comparisons on the internet.
