Do any of you remember A music program called "The Tube" I suppose you would have to be over a certain age and live here in England to relate to this, I think the year was 1993, Jamiroquai Played live on this show what left a lasting impression on me was there performance of "If I like it" what was so impressive was the the total sense of togetherness, it was kinda irrelevant what instruments they were playing (by the way it was to my recollection an acoustic set!) it appeared to me that they had the whole funky groove thing sussed to the extent that none of them where particularly trying hard at all ! most of all SZ!! the thing is they were all in the pocket playing like one gorgeous instrument, I remember SZ playing an acoustic bass, the other thing I remember that the rhythm section consisted of a wooden block! and bongos-!! I remember thinking at the time of this broadcast how can such youngsters play with such a feel for rhythm and grove at such a young age? still blows me away now when I listen to the albums from this time!
Needless to say this one performance change the way I listen to music and indelibly colored my own style to this very day.
I often mention to people about this performance and as yet no one remembers seeing it, does it exist in any form? and of course have any of you seen it?

I used to love watching the Tube on a Friday evening before heading out (usually gigging). Us musicians would spend the weekend dissecting the performances we had seen.

I don't remember the jamiroquai one though! Did you ver see the Police special of them recording Ghost In The Machine in Monserrat, and tour in India and Egypt? That was wicked!!

Also had some real duffers on there too - Stump anyone? (they were one of the worst things I've yet to see!!)

I don`t remember Jamiroquai on the Tube although I do remember especially the very first programme - 1982... Seeing The Jam playing live on tv for the last time before they split, just before I caught them at Wembley Arena. Always been a Weller fan although not so keen on his recent stuff. Another Tube I remember was a live set from Level 42 around 1984 i think???

I used to keep in touch with Phil Gould and he told me that when they played on the Tube there was just so much feedback coming through the foldback speakers!!

I thought they were great though! I was none the wiser as to any on-stage problems (plus, wasn't Mark just a complete bass-god around that time?)
