hey guys. this is my first post here. appears to be good :|

anyways, in 2002 i bought a bass guitar and an amp package for AUD$700 (about US$350). the amp is a big mother Ashton amp, and it can drown out a church without screwing up the sound.

but the bass is something else...

I do not know what make it is. It simply says "SX" on the tuning fork bit and that's it.

it does have the same font as the "Ibanez" logo.

would it be made in the same factory?

thanks.

Welcome to the forum Pietro.

I can't tell what model your bass is from the discription you have given... maybe if you can post a picture of your bass someone can help you ;-)

G'day mate :)

By the sounds of it, you've got an Essex bass....they often have "SX" written on them...

There actually supposed to be great basses to modify (ie replacing pickups, electronics, hardware, etc) - what style is yours? A jazz?

Yes - SX is a company that makes copies - Jazz bass, P-bass, etc. Rondo Music in U.S. sells them.

This is one of my heavily modified SX Jazz basses:

On mine I stripped off everything but the wood. It has Hipshot Tuners, Badass bridge, Bone nut, new pots/cap, bart stacked pups. It plays amazing. The SX basses have great necks - they are the old school C shape.

I really recommend the SX basses - especially the 62 reissue copy like mine, to anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot on an original. The parts suck, but the body you can get in either ash or alder and the necks are just the sexiest c shape you can imagine.

That's more less the same with mexican Fenders...

All Hardware and pikcups are shit... But their are good pieces of equipment after all...

Carbon-fibre control cover wooot! (Well, that or a very good simulation!)

No that's real carbon fibre! That was custom made by someone in Florida - who ironically collects these SX basses as well. The picture doesn't do it justice - it looks so nice!
