Anyone know ANYTHING about webspace? HELP!!!

Ello! Does anybody have any idea about who to get webspace from? Cos Although I've been using the net for years, I know NOTHING baout sorting out a website. I have to do one sometime soon and I really don't know where to start with any of it. Don't even know who provides the FTP program thing (how to upload your site) and could really do with some info on good hosting. Think I'm gonna need enough space to put up some good artwork, a considerable amount of "Flash" and some MP3's and transcriptions. Any advice would be massively appreciated!

i know very little bout the web, i only made the stupid&horrid site for my stupid&horrid band..

anyway, here in italy one of the main free web companies is altervista (http://www.altervista.org) u got 100MB, but u can virtually expand it as many times as u want. the name of the site is of course under altervista (ex. http://www.nameofyoursite.altervista.org), that sucks, but hey, it's free!!
anyway ask leo, i think he knows much more than i do.

for FTP i use FILEZILLA, really a great software IMHO, u can download it for free at http://www.mozilla.org

so...

You have to buy a domain... I bought mine at http://www.networksolution.com

The ".com" costs quiet a lot compared to the others so you may take a ".net" or something else... I noticed that after having bought my ".com" obviously :cheesy:

Then regarding the Host, check out http://www.godaddy.com, that's where I bought mine... I took the economy one...

As for the ftp program, you can upload directly from frontpage if u use it otherwise I use Flash FXP...
