Hello one and all,

My name is James (you may call me Jimmy), I'm a 20 year old university student from Perth in Western Australia, and I've been playing bass for around 5 years...

Wow.... I've long be a fan of Mr Zender, but in recent years I've almost "forgotten" about him due to his extremely limited presence in the public limelight. I think the last time I spoke about him was in the late (and great) Stuart Zender.com forum...... Every now and then when I listen to a bit of old-skool Jamiro I am reminded of how much Stu and the band's music has influenced me. I am also one of the lucky few to have heard the WHOLE of the Azur album - very, very nice indeed and I hope it eventually reaches the wider public (my source will remain anonymous heehee).

For all you tech-heads out there, my kit includes a Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5, with a Laney 300W head and 4X10" cab - all of which produce a well phat sound :). Hopefully I'll post some pics at a later time! Btw, I've been meaning to pick up some synthy effects for a while now, anyone got any suggestions?

I've played in a few bands, mixing everything from acid jazz to reggae to dance.... I'm currently in a crazy experimental acid jazz band called "Udon Takeshi" (featuring an amazing keys/synth player - very humbling) as well as providing some live b-lines for a local funky-house DJ which is fun!

Anyways, 'tis nice to post on a Zender forum again....

cheers, peace

Rob

Hey Jimmy, welcome to the board! Good to see that ppl from the old Zender board come to post here again.

About 4(?) months ago, the AZUR album was put up for download on p2p networks, and later, on the funkin.com website. So 'unfortunatly' all Jamiroquai/Zender fans now own a copy... Stu was actually planning on releasing it himself, via internet or something... but cos of this free download, he thinks no one is interested in buying a complete mixed album anymore (I am though).

Anyway, nice rig you got there...(you can post pictures in a topic in the "bass lounge" section) how does a Streamer Jazzman sound? Never came across one yet, but Im curious... I also use a Hartke amp myself, but its just a 200W 15" combo (want to get a 2X 10" with it though).

So, like I said, welcome to the board!

Cheers,
Rob

Hahaha are you serious about the Azur album being widely available now? Shows how "out of the loop" I am

In answer to your question Rob, the Streamer Jazzman sounds UNBELIEVABLE...I originally bought a Streamer LX 5, and believe it or not it was faulty, and so started a 6 MONTH fiasco of attempting and failing to get it fixed. It was so bad that I ended up personally emailing Warwick to complain at how bad my service had been from the Australian distributors at Warwick; I got a number of calls from the sales manager of Warwick and it ended up that they upgraded me to the Jazzman! When I first played it, the first thing I noticed was how much more powerful it's sound was than my LX - the 3 band active electronics are really great..... the bass really cuts through the mix and combined with my rig, after any gigs someone will always comment afterwards on how massive my sound is. So yeah, I would highly recommend the Jazzman to anyone!

Anyways, yeah I'll try take some pics of my rig and post 'em up for all to see...

Hey Jimmy, I've given serious thought to a Streamer Jazzman, I've heard it's hugely versitile, and it's been voted something like best all round bass in the world for 2002 and 2001. I'm weighing up the pros and cons between the Streamer Jazzman 5 string and the Streamer Stage I 5 string. It'll need careful consideration.

Well Liam, I actually haven't played a Stage I before, however I HIGHLY recommend the Streamer Jazzman........ the mix of a jazz pickup with a musicman-style humbucker, with switch allowing you to split the combos of pickups means you can achieve virtually any sound one could possibly desire, and it has a slap contour to boot!

With my twin-jazz pickup LX I could get more of the "Travelling Without Moving" Zender sound than I could with my Jazzman, however that was a a few years ago so now I have defined my own sound a lot more - I love the tone I get out of the Jazzman........ utilizing both pickups, I have the bass on full and treble and mids on flat for a super-phat tone that has very powerful and responsive highs without any glassiness (which I hate, however if you are into that it's easy enough to dial up!).

Anyways, it's a fantastic bass (I doubt i'll ever look at buying another, unless it is stolen in which case i'll get another Jazzman), and if you can tell me how I can post pics on this forum I'll show you what it looks like and you'll be sold haha :cheesy:

Hey Jimmy, all you need to do to stick photos on the net is go to http://www.photobucket.com/ and upload your images onto the net. Once you've done that, right click on your online images, go down to the photos address (it's URL) highlight it and copy it. Paste your photos URL onto the reply text box, hightlight it's address and click on the 'img' section.

All you need to do now is post!

I've never played a Jazzman before, which is strange because I've played a lot of Warwicks in the past. I'd love to have a go of one, but I'm probably going to with the Stage I five string due the fact I've wanted one for 2 years now! Definately post your pics up, I'd love to see them.

Peace

Well... It's quite known that the musci man style pickups are damn powerfull, but I wish that there were a neck through version of that bass... But, as you talk about him, it seems like there's no necesity of that... I have always think that this bass should cost more for what it does... I mean, of course I don't want it to increase it's cost! but I don't understand the whole thing about the pricing...
